Larp & Immersive Theatre

Ms. Durante has become a regular in the New York City immersive theater scene, frequently working with such companies as Sinking Ship Creations, The Game Theatre, and Incantrix Productions as a facilitator for their interactive and immersive events.

On the line between immersive experience and immersive theater, somewhere between acting, tabletop gaming, and collaborative storytelling, is the world of “larp” (a noun and verb taken from the acronym LARP, or Live-Action RolePlay). Allegra has been larping since 2017, and has participated in, facilitated, produced, organized, and written for varieties of larp from parlor to boffer.

Ms. Durante is currently Director of Storytelling for Dystopia Rising: Pennsylvania, a branch of a national boffer larp that has been running for over 10 years, and will be retiring in late 2023 after two years in the position, to pursue independent immersive projects and focus on earning her degrees.

She has written a larp for 10-20 players based on Mozart’s operas, and plans to write another for 50+ players that will act as an easy introduction to opera as entertainment for those unfamiliar with it. Ms. Durante is also working to design a novel immersive theater experience which she hopes to debut in New York City in 2026.
